Templad (“Templad”, “we”, “us”) is a browser-based design editor at templad.com. This policy explains what we collect when you visit the site or use the editor, why, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It applies to everything at templad.com and nothing else — if you follow a link away from us, the site you land on has its own policy.
If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use Templad.
Everything below is something Templad actually stores today. There is no advertising identifier, no cross-site tracker, and no profile built about you.
Templad does not use advertising cookies and does not use cookies to follow you around the internet. What we do keep on your own device is:
We do not use your designs to advertise to you, sell them, publish them, show them to other users, or train artificial-intelligence models on them.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising — the two things US state privacy laws single out. We have never done so. If that ever changed we would say so here, prominently, before it happened, and offer you a way to refuse.
Because we do not sell or share in this sense, there is nothing for a browser’s Global Privacy Control signal to switch off. We honour such signals as a request to keep it that way.
We use a small number of companies to run the service. They act on our instructions, may only use what they receive to provide their service to us, and may not sell it.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it — a valid subpoena, court order or lawful request — to protect our rights, to protect the safety of any person, or to investigate suspected illegal activity. If Templad is ever sold, merged, or transferred, your information may transfer with it; you would be told before it became subject to a different policy.
Your designs are private to your account by default. Three things change that, and all three are your decision:
Uploaded images are stored with unguessable addresses on a public file store. They are not listed anywhere, but a person given the exact address could view the file without signing in. Do not upload anything that would harm you if it were seen.
Templad does not read your designs and cannot know what is in them. A design may contain a name, an address, a phone number, a price, a photograph of somebody, or anything else you put there. What it holds, and who you give the link to, are yours to decide.
When you create a share link you are choosing to make that design viewable by anyone who has the link, without signing in. From that moment we cannot control who sees it. A link can be forwarded, posted, or copied out of a message, and once somebody has opened a design they can save what they saw. Deleting the link stops any further access, but it cannot reach what has already been passed on or kept.
So: before you share, look at what is in the design. If it contains information about another person, you need their agreement to share it — that is your responsibility as the person who put it there and chose to send it, not ours. We provide the link; the decision to create it, what it shows, and who receives it are yours alone, and we are not responsible for what happens to a design after you have shared it.
You can turn any share link off at any time, from the Share panel on that design.
Everything travels over an encrypted connection and is encrypted where it is stored. Access to your designs is enforced by the database itself, one row at a time, rather than by the app asking politely — so a fault in the website cannot hand your work to somebody else. Passwords are never stored in a readable form. Administrative access is limited to accounts that need it.
No service can promise perfect security, and we do not. If a breach ever affected your information we would tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
Wherever you live, you can do all of this yourself, immediately:
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask us to confirm what we hold, to give you a portable copy, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how it is used, and not to be treated worse for asking. Write to [email protected] and we will reply within 45 days, or tell you why we need longer, up to a further 45 days.
We will need to be reasonably sure it is you before we hand over or delete anything — usually by asking you to write from the address on the account. An authorised agent may act for you with written permission and proof of identity.
The California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the rights above, and requires us to describe what we collect in its own terms. In the twelve months before this policy was last updated we collected: identifiers (name, email, IP address, account identifier); internet activity (error records, pages requested, browser); commercial information (which plan you are on, and whether a subscription has been paid for); and the content you create and upload. It comes from you, from your device as you use the site, and from our service providers. We use it for the purposes in section 3, keep it for the periods in section 7, and disclose it only to the providers in section 5.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not knowingly collect it from anyone under 16. You may exercise your rights, or have an authorised agent do so, using the address above, and we will not treat you differently for it. If we refuse a request you may appeal by replying to our answer, and we will explain the outcome in writing.
Twenty-odd states now have comprehensive privacy laws — Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon, Montana and others among them. They differ in detail but give broadly the same rights: to know, to correct, to delete, to a portable copy, and to opt out of sale, targeted advertising and certain automated profiling. We do none of those three, and the rights are exercised the same way, at the address above. If we decline, you may appeal by replying, and if you are still unsatisfied you may complain to your state Attorney General.
Templad is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you are between 13 and 18, you may only use Templad with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, write to [email protected] and we will delete the account and its contents.
Templad is operated from, and its data stored in, the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws differ from those in your country. By using Templad you understand that this transfer takes place.
The one exception is drawing. Downloads, and the pictures on your projects page, are drawn on a Google Cloud server in Belgium (see section 5). Your designs pass through it while they are drawn and are not stored there.
We may update this policy. The date at the top always shows when it last changed. If a change materially affects your rights or what we do with your information, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Templad after a change means you accept the updated policy.
Questions, requests and complaints about privacy: [email protected].

These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and Templad. By creating an account or using templad.com you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use Templad.
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you may only use Templad with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf. If you accept on behalf of a company, you confirm you are authorised to bind it.
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password to yourself. Tell us at once if you believe somebody else has got into it. Give us accurate information and keep it current. Do not share an account with people outside your household or company, and do not create an account for anybody else without their permission.
You may delete your account at any time from My profile. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is used to harm others, or that has been inactive for a long period, and we will normally warn you first unless the breach is serious or ongoing.
Templad is early software offered while it is still being built. Features may change or be withdrawn, limits may change, and interruptions are more likely than in a settled product. Do not rely on Templad as the only place a piece of work exists — keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. Any plan or allowance given during the beta may change when the beta ends; we will tell you before it does.
You keep every right you already had in the designs, text and images you bring to or create in Templad. We claim no ownership of them.
To run the service we need a narrow permission from you: a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transmit, resize and display your content, solely to operate and improve Templad for you — to show your design on your screen, make its thumbnail, keep your earlier versions, produce your exports and hold our backups. This licence exists only for those purposes, and ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in routine backups which age out.
If you publish a design as a template, or create a share link, you grant a further licence appropriate to that choice: for a template, permission for other users to view, copy and adapt it inside Templad; for a share link, permission for anyone holding the link to view it. You can stop both at any time by unpublishing or deleting the link, though we cannot recall what somebody has already copied.
Sharing is your decision and your responsibility. We do not read your designs and cannot know what is in one. Creating a share link makes that design viewable by anyone holding the link, and a link can be forwarded, posted or copied. You are responsible for what a design you share contains, for having the right to share any information about another person that is in it, and for who you send the link to. We are not responsible for what happens to a design after you have shared it. Deleting the link ends further access but cannot reach what has already been passed on or saved. This does not limit any right you have under our Privacy Policy or under the law.
We do not use your content to train artificial-intelligence models, sell it, or show it to other users except as you have chosen above.
Templad itself — the editor, the website, our name and logo, our templates and the artwork in them — belongs to us or to those who licensed it to us. While your account is in good standing you may use the templates and the elements we supply to create designs, and you may use, publish, print and sell what you create, including commercially.
You may not, however, extract our templates, artwork or fonts to redistribute or sell them as design assets in their own right, or offer a product that competes with Templad using material taken from it. In short: sell the poster, not the template.
The fonts available in Templad are supplied under open licences, chiefly the SIL Open Font Licence, which permit commercial use and allow the font to be embedded in what you export. Those licences do not permit you to sell the font files themselves. The current list and its licence terms are served from templad.com/fonts.
You agree not to use Templad to create, upload, store or share anything that:
You also agree not to:
Every image uploaded to Templad is checked automatically before it becomes visible: by an automated content check for explicit or illegal material, and, as it is served, against known child sexual abuse material. Images that fail are deleted and never published. We may also review content that is reported to us.
We may remove content, refuse an upload, or suspend an account when we reasonably believe these terms have been broken. We are not obliged to monitor everything, and not removing something is not approval of it. Suspected child sexual abuse material is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as US law requires.
If you believe something on Templad infringes your copyright, write to [email protected] with the subject “Copyright notice”, and include:
We will remove or disable material we determine to be infringing and tell whoever posted it. If your material was removed and you believe it was a mistake, you may send a counter-notice with the same contact details, identification of the material and where it was, a statement under penalty of perjury that its removal was a mistake or misidentification, your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, if outside the United States, for our district), and your signature. Accounts that repeatedly infringe are closed.
Templad has a free plan and a paid plan called Pro. What each includes, and what Pro costs, is set out on our Pricing page, which forms part of these terms. Accounts with Pro granted by us at our discretion are not charged.
Paying. Payments are taken by Stripe, on Stripe’s own pages. We never see or store your full card number. By subscribing you authorise Stripe to charge the plan’s price to your payment method at the start of each billing period, monthly or yearly depending on the plan you chose, until you cancel. Prices are shown in US dollars and may not include taxes that apply where you live; where we are required to collect tax it is added at checkout.
Renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period. We will tell you at least 30 days before any change to the price of a plan you are on, and a change only takes effect from your next renewal after that notice.
Cancelling. You may cancel at any time from your profile page, under Manage subscription, or by writing to us. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Pro stays on until the end of the period you have already paid for, and nothing further is charged.
Refunds. Because you keep Pro until the end of the paid period, we do not refund the unused part of a month or a year after you cancel, except where the law where you live requires it. If you believe a charge is wrong, contact us within 30 days of the charge and we will look into it.
Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe will retry it and email you. Pro continues for seven days after a failed payment to give you time to update your card; if it has not gone through by then, your account returns to the free plan.
Going back to the free plan. Whether you cancel or a payment fails, nothing you made is deleted or locked, including designs made from Pro templates. Pro templates you have not yet opened stop being available, and if your uploaded images exceed the free plan’s storage allowance, new uploads pause until you free up space or subscribe again.
Deleting your account while subscribed cancels the subscription at once. The unused part of the current period is not refunded.
Templad relies on other companies to run — named in our Privacy Policy — and may link to sites we do not control. We are not responsible for those services or for what you find on them, and their terms apply to your use of them.
If you send us an idea or a suggestion, we may use it without owing you anything and without keeping it confidential. You keep any rights you already had in it; you are simply giving us permission to act on it.
You may stop using Templad and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue Templad we will give reasonable notice so you can export your work. Sections that by their nature should survive — ownership, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and dispute resolution — continue to apply after the agreement ends.
TEMPLAD IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any file, design or version will always be available or recoverable. Some states do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, in which case the exclusions above apply to the fullest extent permitted.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TEMPLAD AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, DATA OR WORK PRODUCT, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF TEMPLAD, WHETHER OR NOT WE WERE ADVISED THAT SUCH DAMAGES WERE POSSIBLE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO TEMPLAD WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS. Some states do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to the fullest extent permitted, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
You agree to defend and indemnify Templad against claims, damages and reasonable legal costs arising from your content, your use of the service, or your breach of these terms — most commonly, a claim that something you uploaded infringed somebody’s rights.
Talk to us first. Before starting any formal process, write to [email protected] describing the problem and what you want. Most things are settled this way, and both sides agree to try for 60 days before going further.
Arbitration. If that does not resolve it, you and Templad agree that any dispute will be settled by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court, and that each of us waives the right to a jury trial. The arbitration will be held where you live, or by telephone or video if you prefer. The arbitrator may award the same individual relief a court could.
No class actions. Disputes will be brought only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or member of any class or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person’s claims. If this paragraph is found unenforceable, the whole of this arbitration section does not apply.
You can opt out. You may decline arbitration by emailing [email protected] with the subject “Arbitration opt-out” within 30 days of first accepting these terms, giving your name and the email on your account. Opting out costs you nothing and changes nothing else about your account.
Small claims. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead, if it qualifies.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Where a dispute is not subject to arbitration, the state and federal courts located in Delaware will have exclusive jurisdiction, and both of us consent to that. Nothing here removes a protection your local consumer law gives you that cannot be waived.
We may change these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. For a material change we will give notice by email or in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect, and continuing to use Templad afterwards means you accept it. If you do not, you may close your account, and the previous terms will govern anything that happened before.
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about Templad, and replace anything said before. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest continues in force. Our not enforcing something is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer this agreement; we may, to a successor of our business. We may give notice by email or in the app; you may give notice at the address below.

You own the designs you create in Templad, and everything you brought to them. We claim no ownership and take no royalty. There is no watermark on your exports on any plan, and no obligation to credit Templad anywhere.
You may use what you export for anything lawful, including work you are paid for and products you sell: posters, packaging, merchandise, books, signage, social posts, client work, advertising. You do not need a separate licence from us for any of it, and you do not need to tell us.
This holds whether you started from a blank canvas or from one of our templates.
Our templates, and the artwork inside them, belong to Templad or to the people who licensed them to us. While your account is in good standing you may open any template, change it as much or as little as you like, and use the result commercially under section 1.
What you may not do is pass the template on as a template. Concretely, you may not:
The rule of thumb is the one in our Terms: sell the poster, not the template. If your customer is buying the design as something to edit rather than something to use, that is the line.
A template another user has published belongs to that user, not to us. They grant permission for other users to view, copy and adapt it inside Templad. The same rule in this section applies to it.
Templad serves 192 font families from its own servers rather than fetching them from anyone else. Every one of them is open-licensed:
All three permit commercial use, and all three permit the font to be embedded in a document, a PDF or an image you export. Nothing you export from Templad owes a font fee, and no font here restricts you to personal use.
What the Open Font Licence does forbid is selling the font files by themselves. So you may sell a poster set in a font from Templad; you may not extract the font file and sell or redistribute it as a font.
The full list of families, their copyright holders and the complete licence texts are published at templad.com/fonts/LICENSES.txt. That file is written automatically whenever the fonts change, so it is never out of date.
You are responsible for having the right to use anything you upload. Before you put a photograph, logo, illustration or font into a design, you need to own it or hold a licence that covers what you are about to do with it — and a licence for personal use does not cover commercial work.
Two mistakes are common enough to name. An image found through a search engine is not licensed to you simply because it was easy to download. And a font marked “free for personal use” may not be used in anything you are paid for.
Templad does not licence third-party material to you, cannot check what you upload against the rights you hold, and is not a party to any agreement between you and whoever owns it.
“Templad”, the Templad logo and the look of the site are ours. Nothing on this page gives you permission to use them — in your own products, in advertising, or in a way that suggests we endorse, sponsor or supplied your work. Plain factual statements are fine: “made in Templad” or “designed with Templad” need no permission.
Templad includes open source code written by other people, all of it under permissive licences that allow commercial use and redistribution. Every bundled library, its version, its copyright holder and its full licence text are published at templad.com/vendor/LICENSES.txt, which is the authoritative list.
At the time of writing that is jsPDF, supabase-js and polybooljs, each under the MIT Licence. Cloudflare Turnstile — the check that tells people apart from robots — is a hosted service used under Cloudflare’s own terms rather than an open source licence.
This is about the software, not about you. Using Templad places no open source obligation of any kind on the designs you make in it.
If you believe something on Templad infringes your copyright or trademark, write to [email protected] with enough detail to find it — the address of the page or design, what work of yours it copies, and a statement that you hold the rights. The full procedure, including how the person who posted it can respond, is section 8 of the Terms of Service.
You can also use the Report button inside the app, which reaches the same place.
This page explains our licensing in ordinary words. It is not a separate contract: where it and the Terms of Service touch on the same thing, the Terms govern. We will update this page when the licensing changes, and the date at the top is when it last did.
If you are not sure whether something is allowed, ask before you ship it: [email protected]. A short question now is cheaper than a licensing problem later.
Manage your account details.
This removes your designs, the images you uploaded and your account details. It cannot be undone and we cannot get any of it back for you.
Are you sure? Everything below goes, for good:
Change the password you sign in with.
Set a new password for your account.
Reset links stop working after a while, and each one can only be used once. Ask for a new one and it'll arrive in a moment.
You're signed in on this device. Anywhere else you were signed in has been signed out, so if this wasn't you, whoever it was no longer has access.
Kept for one day, then removed for good. Space is freed when they go.
Asks for a real graphic both ways — through templad.com and straight from Supabase — and reports what came back. Takes a few seconds. Nothing is changed; it only reads.
Copies every graphic into its own storage area labelled correctly, and cleans each one as it goes — anything carrying code is refused and named rather than quietly repaired. Your originals are left exactly where they are. Safe to run again if it stops partway.
Saves everything to your own computer as one file: every design, every account, the templates, the saved styles, the reports, and every uploaded picture.
Supabase already keeps a copy of the database from each of the last seven days. This is the copy that survives losing the account itself — and the only one that includes the pictures.
Everybody sees this behind the bell in the header — people with an account and people without one. Nothing is shown to anyone until you press Publish.
